Request to take part in a restricted sale

What a restricted sale is and how to request authorization to bid on it.

🛒

This article is for buyers. It explains why some sales are reserved for specific profiles, how to request authorization to take part, and how to track your request.

Summary

  • Some sales are reserved for specific profiles: professionals, automotive professionals, or dealers in machine tools, rolling stock, or public works equipment.
  • The listing always tells you the participation conditions and the documents expected.
  • You submit your documents, then request authorization from the listing.
  • Our teams review your request: once validated, you can bid.

1. Recognizing a restricted sale

On the listing, the Participation conditions section specifies who the sale is open to and which documents are expected. If you don't yet have access, a message tells you so in place of the bid block.

Type of restriction
What it means
Sale reserved for professionals
You must show proof of a registered professional activity.
Sale reserved for a specific activity
Automotive professionals, dealers in machine tools, rolling stock, or public works equipment: your activity must match.
Item subject to authorization
Your ID document must be submitted, and your participation validated case by case.
ℹ️

The restriction is decided by the seller, based on the nature of the item: regulated equipment, vehicles intended for resale, industrial equipment…

2. Requesting authorization, step by step

Step 1 — Read the participation conditions

Open the listing and check the expected profile as well as the documents requested. If your activity doesn't match, the sale won't be open to you.

Step 2 — Submit your documents

From your personal space, upload the expected documents: ID document, front and back, or passport, and, for a professional activity, the documents relating to your company. Then confirm their submission for validation.

Step 3 — Request authorization from the listing

Go back to the listing for the relevant item and submit your participation request. This action is what sends your file to our teams.

Step 4 — Track your request

Until it's processed, the listing shows a pending notice and the bid block remains locked.

⚠️

If you uploaded your documents after viewing the listing, go back to it and resubmit your request: that's what triggers its review.

3. What happens next with your request

Status
What it means
Being processed
Your request has been registered. No action needed on your part.
Authorized
The bid block unlocks: you can take part in the sale.
Rejected
You receive an email explaining why: missing, illegible, or non-compliant document, incomplete profile, or an activity that doesn't match the sale.
💡

An authorization obtained also benefits your other pending requests within the same organization: no need to repeat the process for every item.

4. Special cases

  • You're buying personally but run a professional activity: your account can access restricted sales as soon as your company's documents are validated. It's your file that counts, not the type of account.
  • Your activity is close to, but not identical to, the one expected: contact customer service, who will assess your situation.
  • The sale is ending soon: report it to customer service, but don't count on immediate processing.

5. Sales of VAT-exempt public assets

For professional buyers, our Public Sellers offer opportunities to acquire used vehicles and machinery, with very favorable taxation!

Indeed, all listings showing an amount marked "incl. tax" correspond to sales by local authorities and other public bodies or groups, which are not subject to VAT.

All items concerned are therefore sold with zero VAT (equivalent to 0%), under article 297 A, I. 2° of the French General Tax Code (a note specified on the final invoice).

You can check this information in the "Sale info" section of the listing:

The advantages:

  • Less cash to advance, for better control of your company's transaction flows
  • No VAT exemption paperwork needed, for a time saving
  • The option to pay a "net" amount online, for instant payment confirmation

Our tips

  • Submit your request several days before the sale closes: review takes place during business days.
  • Submit proof of your activity now: it will be used for all restricted sales.
  • Check that your documents are legible: it's the top reason for rejection.
  • If rejected, precisely fix the issue mentioned before resubmitting your request.

Frequently asked questions

Why is this sale restricted?

Because the item is intended for a specific audience, for regulatory or commercial reasons. The seller defines the authorized profiles.

I'm an individual, can I take part?

How long does reviewing my request take?

It's processed by our teams during business days. You're notified by email of the decision.

Does my authorization apply to all sales?

It applies to items requiring the same conditions. A sale with different conditions will require a new request.

I uploaded my documents but the listing is still locked

Go back to the listing and resubmit your participation request: that's what triggers processing.

Can an authorization be withdrawn from me?

Yes, particularly if a document expires or is no longer valid. You'll be notified if that happens.
