This article is for sellers. It guides you step by step through creating a listing, from choosing the category through to submitting it for review. Have your photos and documents ready before you start.
Summary
- The process has two parts: the listing details (what you're selling), then the sale information (at what price, in which sale, and where collection takes place).
- Your work is saved automatically: you can leave and resume at any time from
My Drafts.
- At least 4 photos and a collection address are required.
- Once submitted, your listing is checked by our teams, then published automatically according to the calendar of the sale you chose.
1. Before you start
Make sure you have:
- the Product listings role in your organization;
- 4 to 50 photographs of the item;
- the required documents for the category (vehicle registration document for a vehicle, for example);
- a collection address;
- a value estimate for the item.
2. Starting the listing
Two paths lead to the form:
- From the header of your Personal Space, click
Sell an item.
- From the
My Draftssection, click+ Create.
A window presents the main steps of the process. You can check Don't show this message again if you're already familiar with it.
As soon as it's created, your listing is saved as a draft. You can Save and exit at any time, even if not all fields are filled in: you'll find it again in My Drafts.
Finding your way around the form
Preview: see your listing as buyers will see it, updating as you fill it in. The button is at the top right.
Previous: go back to the earlier step without losing anything. The button is at the bottom left.
3. First part: describing your item
Step 1 — Choose the category
The category determines the specifications you'll be asked for, the fields shown, and certain review rules. Take the time to choose the right one: it also determines which sales your item can be placed in.
For a vehicle, for example, you'll be asked for the make, model, mileage, fuel type, vehicle identification number (VIN), registration, number of seats, or the emissions standard.
Step 2 — Fill in the general and technical information
Describe the item: description, technical specifications, dimensions, year, general condition, and any information useful to the buyer.
Fields marked with an asterisk are required; the others are optional but strongly recommended. The more complete your listing, the more trust it inspires.
Step 3 — Check the listing title
When the form opens, a placeholder title is generated automatically. It's then enriched based on the category, make, and model as soon as you fill them in.
To write the title yourself, turn off the automatic title option.
If you turn automatic titling back on after a manual edit, your text is overwritten and replaced by the generated title.
Step 4 — Add photographs
4 photos minimum, 50 maximum. We recommend an overview shot, several detailed views, and photos of any defects: they reduce unpleasant surprises at collection and limit disputes.
The Learn more link on the photos block gives you access to our photography tips.
As long as your photos or documents haven't fully uploaded, you can't change steps or leave the page. A message will let you know: wait a few seconds.
Step 5 — Attach the documents
Depending on the category, some documents are required, for example the vehicle registration document or registration certificate for a vehicle.
The documents you add are visible to buyers on the published listing. Additional documents may be requested during review.
4. Second part: the sale information
Step 6 — Set the item's value
You fill in, in turn:
- your value estimate for the item, strictly confidential;
- the starting price, pre-filled as a recommendation based on your estimate;
- where applicable, a reserve price, if your terms allow it.
A gray box shows in real time the breakdown of fees and the net sale price you'll receive.
Finally, check the box accepting the pricing terms: this box must be checked with every listing you submit.
This topic is covered in detail in the article on the starting price and reserve price.
Step 7 — Check the labels
Certain characteristics automatically trigger the addition of a label to your listing, for example for a non-running vehicle or one sold without its registration document. These labels restrict the sale to certain categories of professional buyers.
No action is needed on your part: labels apply on their own, based on what you've declared. The block only appears if a label applies.
Step 8 — Choose the sale
Select, from the drop-down list, the sale that will host your item. The associated dates help you choose.
Two families of sales exist: themed sales and all-equipment sales. The choice is explained in detail in the article on sales and dates.
Step 9 — Arrange collection and, if you'd like, a viewing
The collection block appears once the sale is chosen. It's required: indicate the address and the collection method, By appointment or Fixed dates.
The collection address doesn't appear on the listing: it's shared with the buyer after they pay.
If the address isn't in your address book yet, click Add an address: it will be automatically selected and added to your organization's address book.
The viewing block is optional: turn it on if you'd like to allow buyers to come see the item before bidding ends. It works the same way, and the collection address is suggested again by default.
5. Submitting your listing for review
Once all required fields are filled in, submit your review request.
- If everything is complete, a confirmation page shows you the next steps. You can go back to
My Draftsor continue with a new listing.
- If information is missing, the submission is blocked and you're taken back to the first field to fix, outlined in red.
Your listing then appears in My Drafts with the status Awaiting review.
While your listing is awaiting review, you can no longer edit it from your Personal Space. Wait for our teams' response, or contact customer service if a correction is urgent.
6. What happens next?
Our teams check the quality of the listing, the consistency of the information, the photos, the documents, and the sale settings.
- If corrections are needed, you receive an email and the listing returns to your drafts with the points to address.
- If the listing is approved, it's added to the sale you chose and published automatically according to that sale's calendar.
Our tips
- Write a precise title and a complete description: these are the first things buyers read.
- Point out any defects: a transparent listing limits disputes at collection.
- Fill in all technical specifications, even optional ones: they improve your item's visibility in searches.
- Attach documents from the start, rather than waiting for a request.
- Check your collection terms before submitting: they commit your organization.
Frequently asked questions
Can I pause creating a listing and resume later?
Yes. Your listing is automatically saved as a draft as soon as it's created. Use Save and exit, then resume from My Drafts.
How many photos should I add?
Four minimum, fifty maximum. In practice, around ten well-framed photos give the best results.
Can I edit my listing after submitting it?
No, not from your Personal Space while it's awaiting review. If its status is Under review or Upcoming sale, contact customer service to request a change.
Do buyers see my estimate?
No, never. Your estimate stays confidential and is only used to suggest a consistent starting price and to check the listing's consistency.
Can I create a new sale for my item?
No. You select an existing sale from the list provided. If none suits you, your Agorastore contact can guide you.
My item is rejected, what happens?
A listing is never rejected outright without explanation: you receive an email specifying the corrections needed, and the listing returns to your drafts to be edited and resubmitted.
When will my listing be visible?
Once approved, publication is automatic and follows the calendar of the sale you selected.
