Getting your business verified (KYB, KYC, SCA)

The identity and business checks required, and the documents to provide.

🏷️

This article is for professional sellers. It details the process for verifying your organization, which is required to receive the proceeds from your sales: information to prepare, documents to submit, identity verification for your legal representative, and setting up two-factor authentication.

Summary

  • Verification is separate from your sign-up: it happens once your organization has been created.
  • It's carried out by Mangopay, our payment provider, to meet our regulatory obligations.
  • You can already list items for sale without having completed this verification. However, closing sales and the payout of funds will stay blocked.
  • Allow 20 to 30 minutes, with your documents on hand and a smartphone for identity verification.
  • The process can be resumed at any time, on your own, from your Personal Space.

Completing the company's legal and banking information

Identity verification and two-factor authentication

Legal representative
First name, last name, date of birth, nationality, home address, country of residence, mobile number, and email.

Documents to scan

  • 📄 Kbis extract (French company registration certificate) less than 3 months old.
  • 📑 Certified articles of association, complete and up to date.
  • 🪪 Valid ID (passport or national ID card) for the legal representative, and for beneficial owners where applicable.
  • 🏦 Bank details in IBAN / BIC format, in the organization's name.
💡

Prepare all your documents before you start: the process runs without interruption, and some links have a limited validity period.

2. The process at a glance

  1. You complete your organization's legal information in your Personal Space.
  1. Your file is automatically created with our payment provider.
  1. You're redirected to their secure process: business identification, beneficial owners, documents, identity verification.
  1. You set up your two-factor authentication.
  1. Your file is reviewed, then approved.

3. Step by step

Step 1 — Complete your legal information

From your Personal Space, open the Legal information section of your organization.

You need to:

  • check your organization's information (legal name, registration number, registered office address);
  • fill in the legal representative's information: type of structure, identity, email, phone number, and postal address;
  • fill in the organization's bank details: account holder name, IBAN, and BIC.
⚠️

The bank account holder name must strictly match your organization's name. Bank details in the name of another entity, even from the same group, will be rejected.

Step 2 — Identify your business

You're then redirected to our payment provider's secure process.

A search engine automatically finds your business and pre-fills its administrative information.

  • Always check the information suggested before confirming.
  • If your business isn't found (micro-business, foreign structure, incorrect ID), click Continue to enter the information manually.
  • A tax number or VAT number is requested at this step.
Step 3 — Declare beneficial owners

You must declare all the beneficial owners of your organization, meaning the individuals who own or control it.

Each beneficial owner is added individually, with:

  • their identity and date of birth;
  • their nationality, address, and country of residence;
  • their ownership percentage.

An incomplete declaration is the leading cause of requests for additional information: take the time to list them all before you start.

Step 4 — Submit the documents

You then upload the requested supporting documents. They're reviewed directly by our payment provider.

To avoid a rejection: scan your documents in full, without glare or cropping, in color, and check that they're up to date.

Step 5 — Verify the legal representative's identity

The legal representative then carries out their own identity verification. It includes capturing their ID and a biometric check (a photo of their face).

These two steps take place from a smartphone, by scanning the QR code shown on the computer screen.

⚠️

Don't close your browser tab while you carry out these steps on your phone. The computer screen updates automatically once verification is complete.

Step 6 — Set up your two-factor authentication

One last step: setting up strong authentication, as required by European payment regulations.

It includes:

  • setting a PIN code;
  • linking a phone number;
  • an SMS confirmation.

You can set up this step even if the review of your file isn't complete yet.

4. Tracking your file's progress

Status
What it means and what you should do
File started
The file is open: complete the missing information.
Documents submitted
Review is in progress, you have nothing to do.
Additional information requested
Something is missing or unusable: go back through the process to provide it.

The file was rejected. Correct the issues and restart the process; customer service can help you.
Approved
Verification is complete, and all financial features are unlocked.
💡

To resume or restart the process at any time, use the Identity verification button in your Personal Space. No action from our teams is needed.

5. Timeframes to know

⏱️
  • The verification session stays valid for 7 days after it's created. - The identity verification link stays valid for 1 hour after it's generated. Once these expire, simply restart the process: a new session is created.

Our tips

  • Start this verification as soon as you sign up, without waiting for your first completed sale: you'll avoid a blockage at the collection and payout stage.
  • Complete identity verification immediately after receiving the link, to avoid it expiring.
  • Have the legal representative complete the identity step themselves: no one else can do it for them.
  • Check the date on your Kbis extract: beyond 3 months, it will be rejected.

Frequently asked questions

Is this verification mandatory?

Yes, for any organization that wants to sell and receive the proceeds from its sales. It meets the regulatory obligations imposed on our payment provider.

Can I sell before completing this process?

Yes. You can create and publish your listings. However, the sale-closing steps are blocked: you won't be able to enter a collection code, nor receive the payout of funds.

Is it part of my sign-up?

No. Sign-up creates your organization; this verification is a separate process that comes afterward.

Who carries out the verification?

Reviewing the documents and the final decision are handled by our payment provider. Our teams can help you and prepare your file, but don't carry out the checks on your behalf.

My file was rejected, is everything lost?

No. You can restart the process yourself after correcting the issues, as many times as needed.

How many beneficial owners do I need to declare?

All of them. An organization can declare several, each with their ownership percentage. A partial declaration leads to a request for additional information.

The legal representative isn't available, can a team member do the identity verification instead?

No. The biometric verification concerns the declared legal representative and must be carried out by that person.
