When and how you get paid

The conditions and timelines for receiving proceeds from your sale.

🏷️

This article is for sellers. It explains when the proceeds from your sale are paid to you, what triggers this payment, and what information needs to be up to date for it to go through.

Summary

  • The payment is triggered by confirming collection of the item, which you do yourself.
  • Two conditions must be met first: the buyer has paid, and the item has actually been handed over.
  • You receive the sale price minus the commission.
  • Your validated bank details determine whether the payment goes through smoothly.

1. The three steps before you get paid

Step
What happens
Who acts
1
The buyer pays their invoice
The buyer, within 48 hours of their invoice being issued.
2
The item is collected
The buyer comes to collect the item and gives you their collection code.
3
You confirm collection
You, from Sales invoices, by entering the collection code.
⚠️

Until you confirm collection, no payment is triggered. This is the step most often forgotten: remember to do it as soon as the buyer leaves with the item.

2. Why are the funds held securely until then?

The buyer's payment is collected as soon as they pay, but held securely by our payment provider until the item is actually handed over. This mechanism protects both parties:

  • you're assured that the buyer has already paid before you hand over the item;
  • the buyer is assured that their payment is only released after the handover.

3. What you receive

💡

Amount paid out = sale price collected − Agorastore commission (including tax).

So you have no commission to pay separately: it's deducted directly.

A commission invoice is issued for this: you'll find it in Commission invoices, in your personal space.

4. What needs to be up to date on your side

Item
Why it's essential
Bank details (IBAN, BIC)
This is the account that will receive the payment.
Your company information
It determines how invoices are issued and how your organization is verified.
Verification of your organization
Our payment provider must have validated your file before funds can be paid out to you.
⚠️

An incomplete file usually only becomes apparent at the time of payment. Check your information as soon as you list your first item for sale, without waiting for the sale to end.

5. Tracking progress

Your invoice status, in Sales invoices, tells you where things stand:

Status
What it means
Invoiced
The buyer has not yet paid.
Paid
Payment has arrived. You can arrange the handover of the item.
Confirmed
You've confirmed collection. Payment is being set in motion.
Commissioned
Your commission invoice has been issued and payment is being prepared.
Completed
The funds have been paid to you and the case is closed.

Our tips

  • Confirm collection the same day as the handover: this is what triggers your payment.
  • Check your bank details before your first sale, and again whenever you change banks.
  • Never hand over an item before you've verified that the invoice status is paid.
  • Track your statuses in Sales invoices rather than waiting for an email.

Frequently asked questions

Exactly when do I get paid?

After you confirm collection. Payment is then prepared and sent to your bank account within 72 hours.

How long does the transfer take to arrive?

Allow for the usual bank processing time after the payment is executed. If the delay seems unusual, contact your Agorastore advisor.

Can I be paid before handing over the item?

No. Confirming collection is the condition for payment.

The buyer isn't coming to collect the item

Report it to your Agorastore contact: the situation will be handled with the buyer, in accordance with the general terms and conditions of sale.

Do I need to issue an invoice myself?

No. The sales invoice is issued for you and in your name; you'll find it in your personal space.

I sold several items: will I receive a single transfer?

Payments follow the pace of collection confirmations. Several items handed over at the same time to the same buyer may be processed together.
